If the Error LED is permanently on and bit 7 of the status byte is set, then VSCAN device has detected a Bus Error. The most usual cases are:

• wrong bitrate, i.e. your VSCAN device uses other bitrate than the target CAN device
• wiring is wrong, checkif you all tree wires (CAN_H, CAN_L and GND) are properly connected and terminated with necessary resistor values
